Veterans Park at Post 1619

Veterans Park at Post 1619

The Clinton County Mariners and American Legion Post 1619 took an idea of making a baseball field from a dream to a reality starting in the Fall of 2020.

The two entities took a little used back softball field and created a field that the Mariners call home.  The field was officially opened June 18, 2021 when the Mariners hosted the North Country Nationals.  The first pitch was thrown by Ian McCasland, while Brady Doorey smacked the first hit.  Later that summer, the Mariners hosted, and won, the American Legion District IV Tournament

For the 2022 season, the Mariners received a generous gift from Casella Waste Management and installed a wireless scoreboard in leftfield.

In the summer of 2023, Veterans Park at Post 1619 served as the home field of the Plattsburgh Thunderbirds of the Empire Professional Baseball League.

The Champlain Valley Baseball League (CVBL) began using Veterans Park during the summer of 2023.

Prior to the 2024 season, the Mariners were awarded a grant from Clinton County to build a press box/concession stand behind home plate.

At the beginning of the 2025 season, the Mariners along with local partners, Casella Waste Management & Luck Brothers, are working on construction of a new backstop.

Mariners record at Veterans Park (39-10-1):

2021 (10-1)

2022 (7-2)

2023 (7-2)

2024 (14-5-1)

2025 (1-0)
